On Earth Day (April 22), Integrated Building Systems held its third annual Electronics Recycling Drive and collected a record amount of equipment -- 6.5 tons!
Customers, Harrison West neighbors, and many other individuals dropped off electronic waste ("e-waste") for proper recycling. At the end of the day, a 16' truck was filled with 13, 122 pounds of computers, laptops, phones, servers, printers, microwaves, cords, cables, gaming systems and more.
Why recycle e-waste?
Keeping IT equipment out of our landfills is important because the chemicals and materials in e-waste can leach into the soil and groundwater and poison the environment. Our great recycling partner, Community Computer Alliance, aims to meet this goal as it offers recycling, job-training, and technology donations to other nonprofit organizations.
