technology helps library achieve its mission: “connect people to a world of ideas and each other”

In a partnership spanning more than a decade, Worthington Libraries relied on Integrated Building Systems as its technology consultant and integrator for multiple projects. At every location, including construction of the Hard Road and Park Road branches and the expansion and renovation of the main library, the technology had to support the library’s mission of connecting people to a world of ideas and each other.

Extend the return on investment

Each of these locations enjoyed vibrant patronage—but heavily-used facilities can be a challenge to WiFi and connectivity. Thanks to expert planning and installation by Integrated Building Systems, the library system achieved seamless integration of its technology systems, including the low-voltage infrastructure, security system, phones, audio-visual systems, data networking, and wireless network.

Technology enabled the library to offer new, enhanced services to patrons. Meticulous coordination of the technology upgrades with other construction schedules allowed the library to maintain critical functions throughout projects, with as little disruption to patrons as possible. Upgraded choices, especially for category cabling, positioned the library for future additions and changes, extending the return on investment and flexibility.

Bonnie Mitchell, Associate Director during most of these projects, said, “Having technology consultants on our design team and involving them in construction meetings meant we had a plan in place to hand off to the architects. Plus, IBS worked side-by-side with the contractors during the actual implementation, all of which was crucial to smooth design.”
