Meet Office Manager David Lindsay-Johnson

Meet Office Manager David Lindsay-Johnson

Father of four, drummer, French linguist, optimist.

Say hello to David Lindsay-Johnson, the new Office Manager at Integrated Building Systems. He joined the firm at the end of 2020, when the previous office manager retired after a 22-year career with the company.

David is responsible for the timely and accurate entry of the firm’s accounts receivable and accounts payable, along with a variety of human resources and office-support tasks. Call the office and you will likely hear his welcoming voice asking how he can be of help.

“The environment here is amazing,” David said. “It is warm and welcoming. The sense of patience I felt as a new team member learning new tasks made this an enjoyable work place, with opportunities for personal and professional growth.”

“There is a good heart behind this business,” he said.

YES TO IBS AND EOS

Three little letters made David’s decision to join the team an easy one.

Integrated Building Systems runs on EOS—the Entrepreneurial Operating System—and learning about that structure was the tipping point for David.

“I like that at IBS the company goals are clear, expectations are clear, and communication is a priority,” David explained. “Most of my work is with management and project managers to push toward accuracy and positive financial growth of the company. Our EOS structure encourages all of us to improve and to refine our operational process.”

Feedback and recognition are important elements of EOS, too. And after just his first few months on the job, David gained both when he won first place in the IBS Appreciation Station program.

The program is designed to recognize colleagues for upholding the company’s core values—Proud to Do IT Right, Desire to Own IT, and Can-Do-IT Attitude. At each quarterly all-staff meeting, the three teammates with the top points earn recognition and reward.

David reflected: “Being new, the award would have to be my favorite memory to date. It confirms for me that I am open and willing to do my best, but most importantly that I’m demonstrating the company values.”

BONJOUR ET BIENVENUE

French for “hello and welcome,” these words are second nature to David, who is fluent in the language. Growing up, he attended Ecole Kenwood, a kindergarten-8th-grade French immersion school in Columbus.

“My mother wanted a challenge for me when she recognized halfway through kindergarten that I needed something more stimulating,” said David, who continued to study French in high school and college. (Bravo, David!)
